DANILOV BELLS MEMORIAL INSCRIPTION
The sandblasted inscription on this memorial commemorates the history of the Danilov Bells, which hung for 78 years in the bell towers of Harvard University's Lowell House and Baker Library before they were returned in 2008 to their original home, the Danilov Monastery in Russia. The bells were donated to Harvard in 1930 after being rescued from Stalinist efforts to eradicate religious artifacts.
